Gauge Hits 2 Feet!

Normally, if the SRT gauge hits 2ft in mid-April, it is the result of a decent dose of rain after a dry spell. This year, however, it is pretty much the first time that a 2 has been visible on the gauge since the start of the season. While it is now below 2ft it is dropping very slowly and it more rain is forcast for the weekend.

As a result, the beats below Bunclody have had a tough time with very poor clarity and the stock of fish running straight through with few if any resident fish visible.

Beats higher up the system have done somewhat better but it will only really be as the levels drop that we know what the stock is actually like. The feeling is that the run todate has been sparse. Reports from from other systems are encouraging and we are hopeful it will pick up over the the comming weeks.
