The water has stayed high and the grilse have keep coming. It has been an extraordinary month on the Slaney with even this week individual rods having 3 or more fish in a day. At least 2 anglers had their first Slaney fish this week. The really good news is that, compared to last years low water, the fish are running hard and are not concentrated in a small number of beats. A fresh grilse was reported from Clonegal on Sunday. The water, which has been at least a foot higher than normal, is giving the fish a clear run out the estuary and letting anglers access pools which would normally have heavy weed growth.
