IFI has issued a press release detailing the prosecution of two Tullow based individuals who were fishing out of season, using illegal gear and obstructing a fisheries officer. One of the offenders was fined €1,500 and has to pay a €750 contribution to costs, the other pleaded guilty and was fined €400.
The offences occurred on 29 March 2022 and involved the specialist fisheries unit supported by local IFI officers.
Successful prosecutions like this are really good news for the river and IFI are to be congratulated on the successful operation and we can only hope it presages an active policy of pursuing and prosecuting offenders.
