2022 Spawning and Stock Levels

The river remained very high for almost the entire spawning period which made it very difficult for IFI staff to assess the level of activity on the redds but from anecdotal reports, it was satisfactory with a number of fresh late-run fish seen crossing the various weirs.

During a brief drop in water, a very high level of activity was seen on a stretch of one of the more important spawning tributaries which was very encouraging to hear.

The electrofishing program carried out in the summer returned adequate stock levels to enable the river to remain open on a catch-and-release basis.
