River to Open on 17 March 2023

The good news for anglers on the river is that all the letter writing and SRT lobbying has finally paid off and the opening day for 2023 will be 17 March giving us an extra 2 weeks on the river during the traditional spring run.

The closing date remains 30 August. One significant change is that these dates specifically apply to the brown trout season as well as to salmon and seatrout.

The river remains catch and release for salmon, fly only above Enniscorthy bridge and only barbless hooks (single or double) can be used. The specific bye-law can be seen here.
