The Slaney was high but clear for its St Patricks day opening with rods out on most beats along the river. The total catch was thought to be 9 fish which sounds great but the river is still a shadow of the it’s former greatness and many rods saw nothing and those who got fish worked hard but all had a great day on the river. A small number of fish were also caught today.
