A First Salmon for Killian

Despite the relatively low and clear state of the water last Thursday, Killian proved that there were still fish to be caught when he landed this 7lber on a stoat’s tail. Just out for an hour after work he briefly hooked another.

An experienced trout angler, it was only his second time out with a double-handed rod which he had borrowed from a friend.

The river is low and the weed is growing rapidly and generally fishing is very quiet. Hopefully the rain due this week will bring fresh fish in and stir things up.

There continues to be an ongoing problem with unauthorised and illegal fishing and with the individuals concerned being seen carrying fish they have killed. There were at least 2 such incidents of fish being killed by poachers reported to IFI in the past 2 weeks. Any suspicious or unauthorised activity should be reported to the IFI hotline 1890347424 immediately.
