Brown Trout Season Opens with High Water

The Patrick’s Day holiday saw a number of local brown trout anglers, operating within Covid restrictions, out on the higher reaches of the river. There were reports of good fishing despite the water levels.

In particular, weighted nymphs were successful accounting for several trout with some in the 1/2lb to 3/4lb range and one or two up to 1lb. The dry fly specialists will be waiting for a bit more warmth in the day and drop in levels before they head out.
